Dr. Dike Drummond
First the facts:
Originally trained as a family practice doctor, graduating from the Mayo Clinic Medical School in Rochester Minnesota in 1984.
Full time family practice doctor for ten years in Mount Vernon, Washington and at the age of 30 was the CEO of a 40 doctor multi-specialty group. In my medical career, I delivered over 500 babies and participated in well over 30,000 one-on-one patient care visits.
Now … the rest of the story
My First Midlife Crisis Experience
My “little secret” … was that for every single year I was in medical school and private practice (all 15 of them) … I wanted to quit. My medical career was a classic situation of living someone else’s dream. My mother – and her mother before that – had dreamed of being a doctor. Each of them ultimately settled for a long and successful career as a teacher.
When I was born they pinned their hopes on me to become the doctor in the family. I dutifully climbed the ladder to MD success only to find it was leaning against the wrong wall. I had never consciously chosen medicine for myself, yet I remained in that “Frozen Midlife Crisis” for 15 years. That was my first mistake.
I knew I wanted out … and I didn’t know how to make the change. The little voice in my head kept me frozen with the phrase, “You don’t know how to do anything else.”
Then I made my second mistake. At the age of 40 I simply walked away from my successful career and a 6-figure salary – with no plans for the future – in a full blown “Burn it to the Ground” Midlife Crisis.
Those two mistakes cost me dearly, It took 4 years of struggle to create a new life outside of medicine. These four years are the major source of my drive to help others avoid the drama and suffering of a dysfunctional midlife crisis. I often imagine other people out there (you perhaps) who have been longing to make a change in your life for many years and not known how to make it happen. I have been there and felt that pain. Sometimes I can feel you out there … and I would like to take your hand and show you the way out.
The good news is this … at the far end of that struggle … after much stopping and starting and drama, struggle and confusion … I was able to create a new life with much more freedom, passion, meaning, creativity and fulfillment than medicine ever offered.
Life After Medicine
After quitting my full time medical practice, I became certified in Interactive Guided Imagery and started an alternative medical practice using this technique to help people with Depression, Chronic Pain, Cancer and Post Traumatic Stress Disorder. After two years as an alternative medicine provider I left the “disease model” for good.
I became certified as a Life and Business Coach through the Academy for Coach Training in Bellevue Washington … now known as “Invite Change“. For the last 8 years I have coached people in the transition from a Job or Career to answering the Calling to start their own business.
I know that starting this business is something they can’t not do. I have made this transition myself and can accelerate the process for budding entrepreneurs. My Business Coaching website is Business-Development-Videos . My business articles have been featured on Biznik.com and other websites.
I have been mentored by some of the top entrepreneur and wealth trainers in the nation … including T. Harv Eker and Loral Langemeier and I have trained and presented to audiences from 20 to 2000 in the US and Canada. I have also studied accelerated learning techniques and training design with Blair Singer, Harv Eker and Paul Scheele.
From 2006 – 2010 I was the COO of Superteams.com – a leadership and facilitation skills training company serving LEAN / Six Sigma Professionals in all branches of the US Military
I also have extensive experience in Commercial Real Estate and have raised over $10M in Private Equity for Commercial Property Projects. I am co-owner of Investortours.com, a commercial real estate training company. I am the co-author of the Investortours 1500 page “Commercial Property Wealth Training Manual”.
My Second Midlife Crisis … and starting all over
In late 2009, my 24 year marriage came to an end. The divorce process was amicable (there were no sports cars of any kind involved) and it still resulted in a radical change in the day-to-day reality of my life. The relationships and daily habits I had laid down over two decades of family life were wiped out in a matter of weeks. I found myself suddenly alone … living in an apartment with borrowed furniture.
This time – I did a much better job of navigating the crisis. I put my previous experience to good use immediately. I remembered the lessons of my first Midlife Crisis and what I had learned from my years as a personal coach … and quickly created a support team of new friends and 3 separate coaches.
In a matter of just over a year, I was able to establish a new life and a new circle of relationships. In the process, I discovered my true calling.
The Birth of the 3 Hour Midlife Crisis
I have honed my two midlife crises and my life coaching experience down to a step-by-step process that creates a Functional Midlife Crisis you can use as a Shortcut to living your dreams. Once you learn these tools … which takes less than 3 hours … you can move through your crisis to a more meaningful life in a very short period of time. These are exactly the tools, training and support I wished I had at any point in my 15 year “frozen crisis” as a family practice doctor.
My intention is to share the 3 Hour Midlife Crisis Workshop with 1,000,000 people by 2015 and to change the definition of Midlife Crisis for good. You will be thrilled when you practice with these tools in your own situation. I can’t wait to share them with you.
“If I have learned anything, it is that what most of us see as a Midlife Crisis … is actually a calling. That event that looks like a problem or a tragedy or a longing for something different … is your spirit nudging you to do the work that is still left for you to do … in the time you have left. There is SO much more available … and now can be the time we can all get started.”Dr. Drummond’s Linked In profile is here
